Welcome back! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Here at TU living we had a great day full of family and lots of delicious food. Have you started decorating for the next holiday? I have a simple DIY pillow that will bring a holiday look to any sitting area in your home.
You all know I love planting flowers in my gardens during the summertime, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that I also like flowers in my winter decor! The perfect winter flower to inspire a simple DIY pillow is the poinsettia. They come in a multitude of colors and their multi-petal design translates beautifully into a pillow.
The pillows that Paige, JP, and I created are inspired by a gorgeous set of pillows I found on Simple Simon & Co. This wonderful blog has a full tutorial that will allow you to create poinsettia pillows for your home. We made a few changes when DIYing our pillows:
- Increased size to 20 inches
- Used full felt fabrics, instead of felt and quilting cotton
- Added buttons for decorative accents
We used a pillow form from Ikea. You may also purchase pillow forms from craft stores such as Joann or Michaels.
I’m extremely happy with the final look of the poinsettia pillows. The ability to coordinate these pillows with each home’s existing decor makes them simple to add to any home. I sincerely hope you add these pillows to your winter decor! Show us your beautiful pillows on the TU living Facebook (@TUliving.Kathy) or Instagram and Twitter (@TU_living).
