Everyone meet Gerald! He is an azalea that my daughter Hannah received as a Valentine's Day gift two years ago. He was meant to be enjoyed for his lovely pink blooms and then discarded—as stated on his enclosed care card. However, since an azalea is a bush, there was never a good time to let Gerald go. He is now a house plant during the cold weather and resides in a sunny spot on the deck during warm weather. This very confused plant is the inspiration for today’s blog! Gerald’s recent blooms and origins got me thinking of Valentine’s Day! I have a great fun, temporary craft to bring some February spirit into your home!
With Valentine’s Day around the corner I decided to update my coffee corner with some cute “love” inspired mugs. My plain white mugs are going to get some love! I am using my Silhouette Cameo to create the messages of vinyl for the mugs. Many of the messages I am using are from extremely talented artists. They often offer their creations for little or no charge on the internet. Check out TheHungryJPEG, Creative Fabrica and My Vinyl Designer. Pinterest is also a great venue to find beautiful graphics.
If you don’t have an electronic cutting machine—Silhouette Cameo or Cricut Explore, you could also use these beautiful designs to make a homemade Valentine’s day card for your special someone! I plan on creating some for my loved ones!
It will be nice to drink my morning coffee out of these cute mugs. The best part is that vinyl comes off when Valentine’s Day is over and you once again have classic white mugs for everyday use.
